Chelsea accept United’s bid for Mata, playmaker to undergo medical on Thursday

According to multiple reports in the British media, Chelsea have accepted a £37million bid for Juan Mata from Manchester United and released the player to undergo a medical and agree terms with the reigning champions.
Mata missed training on Wednesday, raising speculations that he was finally set to move away from Stamford Bridge, after enduring a frustrating time under Jose Mourinho. According to these reports, United made the bid for the 25-year-old, via a third party, but Chelsea accepted it as an official one and Mourinho gave his blessings for the deal.
The player’s father and his representatives have arrived in the UK and it’s just a matter of time before the deal will be completed and Mata will sign a contract that will more than double his £70,000-a-week Chelsea salary.
It is also believed that Mata did not make an official request to leave, but the size of the fee tempted Mourinho, who is reportedly looking to hijack Mohammed Salah’s move to Liverpool in the coming days and bring in a big-name striker in the summer.
