Who's got Sexier Abs, Iyanya or Akopororo?

A slight drama ensued at AY Live on Easter Sunday when Akpororo a fast rising comedian, and one of the numerous discoveries AY’s Open Mic was introduced on stage.

Akopororo, beginning his routine of jokes, said he has discovered that girls keep screaming every time musicians like Iyanya etc take of their shirts on Stage because these guys go work out to get sexy abs.

“I prepare come” he told the mammoth crowd that gathered at the Eko Convention Hall of Eko Hotel to see AY Live, and then he did this.

He pulled his shirt. And remained like that for as long as time permitted him to crack the audience up on stage.

Moments after his performance, Iyanya came up on stage, as it is his custom asked if he could take off his shirt because the place it getting a little hot.

Now that’s where AY’s BLOG comes in.

The Ab’s have been laid bare on Stage. First by Akopororo the comedian, and then by Iyanaya.

Comedians 'ROAST' Julius Agwu on his 40th Birthday

On Sunday, April 8, 2013, Veteran and very witty Comedian, Julius Agwu, celebrated his 40th Birthday at the Harbour point, Victoria Island Lagos. Alibaba was MC on the Night. And just while Gov. Rotimi Ameachi of Rivers State Launched Julius' Autobiography, Alibaba in conjunction with other Comedians of the Federal Republic of Nigeria presented a Surprise Birthday Gift to Julius Agwu.

It wasn't a Rolls-Royce:  It was a ROAST.

One after the other, they took their turns to throw jabs at the celebrant and everyone had a good, good Laugh. And that was how the Genius in Julius Agwu was celebrated by his Colleagues. AY's BLOG was at the Bash to bring you The Roast. And we must warn...

How Julius Agwu was Celebrated at FORTY

When Julius Agwu was born April 7, 1973 to Madam Mary Welebor Agwu, the wife of Late Pa Augustine Wamadi Agwu (a Part time hunter, part time bricklayer and part time Okada Rider), he didn't know he would someday become one of the leading lights in Nigeria and Africa Comedy Industry.

He didn’t know that 40years after he took his first breathe out of his mother’s womb, he would be celebrated at the Habour Point, Victoria Island Lagos, with a Governor as respected as Governor Rotimi Amaechi, the Executive Governor of Rivers State in attendance.

That was what happened last night in Lagos Nigeria where Governor Amaechi, lead Captain of Industries, Politicians, Actors, Record Label Owners, Comedians, Journalists, DJ’s, Artistes, etc to celebrate one of the leading comedians and impresarios at FORTY.

The Party opened with Tim Geoffrey leading a brief praise and Worship Segment, after which veteran Comedian, Yibo Koko gave a welcome speech and introduced on stage, Alibaba the MC on the Night.

Dan the Humorous lived up to his last name with a witty performance that began from how he couldn't understand why the tuition of a Primary 4 Pupil should be as high as N450,000 per term, wondering if they are being taught things different from the same '2+2=4' math he learnt at the same level. He also poked jabs at Joseph Yobo's outing at the last Nation’s Cup in South Africa: how Yobo was always introduced 3 minutes to stoppage-time after Keshi must have warned him to do one thing when he gets on the pitch – avoid the ball. Always reminding him if he had avoided the ball, Nigeria wouldn't have drawn the group match against Burkina Faso.

After him, Kcee was brought on stage to perform. He and Burna Boy were two performing acts on the night the Genius in Julius Agwu was celebrated.

Then, it was time to Launch Julius Agwu’s Auto-Biography, titled Jokes Apart… How did I get here? 

Julius had actually set out time to chronicle is rise to becoming one of the ‘ogas at the top’ in Nigeria’s Comedy industry. Like Tony Kan had reported in the Daily Sun on Sunday April 7, 2013, “the Book is an unaffected narrative of [Julius Agwu’s] journey of hope and determination from the rustic village of Choba to the glittering stages of Lagos, London, New York and other capital cities of the world.” 

Again Governor Ameachi lead a selected side to launch the Julius’ Book. After their launch, either on behalf of themselves or the people of their State, Julius Agwu’s book raked in over N17million Launch money. While Mo Abudu also in the selected side launched 500 Copies of the Book at Cover Price.

While the Launch was on going, Alibaba was collaborating on other Comedians present at the Bash for a surprise birthday gift for one of their own. When the surprise was unveiled, it turned out it was a ‘ROASTING SESSION’ for Julius Agwu.

One after the other the Comedians took their turn to ‘ROAST’ Julius Agwu, and everyone enjoyed a good laugh. It was like attending an edition of Crack Ya Ribs.

And that, in short, was how the Genius in Comedian Julius was celebrated at FORTY.

Gordons' Comedy Klinic takes Healing Therapy to Asaba

Straight-talking and good-humored Comedian, Gordons has picked April 24, 2013 as the day his annual Comedy Klinic Comedy and Music Concerts to Asaba the Delta State, and this is official.

Aside Gordons, other ‘Non-Resident Doctors’ to administer “healing Therapy’ at the Dome, Venue of the Show in Asaba include Oky Bakassi, Gandoki, I Go Dye, AY, Bovi and Buchi.

Other qualified Doctors who’ll fly in from Lagos are Lepacious Bose, Elenu, Akopororo, Acapella, Mc Shakara, and Funny Bone.

Dr. Timaya will be ‘Going Down Low’ on ‘Sexy Ladies’; Dr. Flavour Nabaia will ‘treat’ those ‘catching cold’ on the night while Nurse Tiwa Savage will diagnose patients suffering from Kele Kele Love.

Patients who won’t heal quick will be ‘Nacked Akpako’ by Dr. Terry G, while Mercies of the Lord will be called down by Dr. Oristefemi.

The only trouble making Dr. expected at Gordons Comedy Klinic in Asaba is Barrister Smooth.

Julius Agwu set for Autobiography Launch

On Sunday, April 7, 2013, one of the Most Successful Veteran Comedian, Actor, and Performer will be celebrating his 40^th Year Birthday. On his day, Julius Agwu is also coming with a first for Nigeria’s Comedy Industry – He is Launching his Autobiography.

Edited by celebrated writer, Toni Kan, Julius Agwu’s Autobio will tell first hand stories “about my journey so far: where I’m coming from, my challenges, the obstacles that were in the wheel of my progress, where I am today, and where I hope to be 40 years from now,” Julius said.

The title of his Autobiography is still kept away from the Public for fear of the very bad sharp guys in Nollywood.

Julius Agwu has always been a celebrated Comedian, Compere, Performer, Actor, and an Entrepreneur. After his Autobiography is officially published, Julius Agwu will add another one to his faculty of talents – Author.

AY has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to make urgent calls to President Barrack Obama that their number one enemy has resurrected, is now on twitter and he is following an innocent Nigerian.

By ‘Innocent’ AY does not mean Tuface Idibia, he means himself – AY.

AY has also threatened that if President Jonathan refuses to call President Obama with 24Hours, he will be forced to make the call himself.

Artistes Hit Top Form Ahead AY Live on Easter Sunday

Comedians, Musicians, Dancers, and DeeJays on the Bill of the oncoming AY Live on Easter Sunday have hit their an all-time performance form and this excites AY, the creator, organizer, producer and host of the Show.

AY wins CEAN-British Council Awards

In appreciation of his tangible and significant contribution to the Comedy Industry, AY has been given an Award as the Most Creative Entrepreneur-Comedian in the year 2012 at the Creative Entrepreneur Award, which held Friday February 23, 2013 at the British Council Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Organized and presented by the Creative Entrepreneurs Association of Nigeria (CEAN) in conjunction with British Council of Nigeria, the 2102  Creative Entrepreneur Award had 10 competitive categories and AY won the Comedy Category.

“I’m happy this is coming today," AY said after the Event. "In fact, the Award ceremonies began 6pm, which is the same time The New AY Show premiered on African Magic. So while we were getting great feedback from viewers on the Show, we were here getting worthy recognition from a body as respected as CEAN and the British Council.

“AY Live is also at hand, and with this Award we must raise the stake higher in the production of the Concert. Coincidentally, we were already talking to a UK Company to handle the production. I’m truly glad this is coming now, and to CEAN and British Council, I must say, ‘Thank You!’”

Other winners are of the Creative Entrepreneur Awards are Kelechi Amadi Obi (Visual Arts Category); Chris Obosi (Audio Visual), Mai Atafo (Fashion Category); and Banky W’s EME won the Music Category.

DJ Sose won Performing Arts, Book Craft (Publishing) Noah’s Ark (Creative Services) Jumia.com.ng (New Media) while Jahman Anikulapo won the Creative Hallmark Awards, and Vanguard Newspapers’ late editor, Ogbonna Amadi won a Special Post Humous Award.

Timaya to get 10% of Odi Community’s N37.6 Billion

A Federal High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, recently, ordered the Federal Government to pay N37.6b compensation to the people of Odi Bayelsa State and one of the happiest Nigeria artiste over the judgment must be Timaya.

While delivering judgment, Justice Lambi Akanbi awarded  N17.618billion as general damages and N20billion for special damages as the community prayed. But nothing was said about Timaya. Not even an award of 10% of the total compensation sum.

This is unfair.

Could the judge have forgotten so soon, that popular Dem Mama track? Or is it because Tiamaya cursed Dem Mama in that track? Even if Timaya is now singing of Bum Bums and has stopped telling us True Stories, must we allow influence our judgements?

Here on AY’s BLOG, we are protesting the Judgment. Something MUST go to Timaya. If he can’t get 10% of N37.6b, 10 plots of land in Maitama, Abuja won’t be out of place.

And, we don’t want to propose a third option of 10 Virgins from Odi for Timaya, because we know he won’t like that option. Or do you think, he will?

CAF orders a replay of Ghana - Burkina Faso AFCON Semi Final Match

After watching yesterday’s UEFA Champions League Match between AC Milan and Barcelona, we reached a conclusion that if we (at AY’s BLOG)  were the President of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, we would have ordered a replay of the Ghana Burkina Faso AFCON 2013 Semi final Match and forced the Black Stars to include Mutari and Boateng in the squad.

And we have good reasons to do that.

Why should the Black Stars of Ghana struggle so much against the Burkinabes when they have quality players like Sulley Mutari, and Kevin-Prince Boateng scoring freely against a team as World Class as Barca? Why did they drop these players on their AFCON list? Why?

And they are very lucky.

Imagine it’s Nigeria. Imagine the Super Eagles lost to their Semi Final match to Burkina Faso and the third place match to Mali. And imagine few weeks after the players Keshi deliberately dropped scored two ‘sexy’ goals against Barca.

Let’s not even imagine it. Because what will happen will be worse than what happened in 1963.
