On Wednesday, July 9th, a 15-year-old girl in Nepal reportedly committed suicide because her favourite team, Brazil, suffered a colossal loss to Germany, who defeated them 7-1.
The girl, Pragya Thapa, who was a 10th grade student, hanged herself on Wednesday morning, in Bharaul village in the country’s capital - Kathmandu, Daily Mail reports.
Thapa’s mother reportedly found her hanging from the ceiling of her bedroom.
She was said to have been doing homework in her room after talking about the game with her friends on the phone.
Preliminary investigations are being conducted. According to Sharad Thapa, one of the investigators, findings indicate that:
‘She was anxious to see Brazil in the final, but it went down to Germany. Some of her friends started teasing her for supporting Brazil. Later in the morning, she took an extreme measure by hanging herself in her own room.”
Investigations are still ongoing, and the body of the deceased has been sent for an autopsy.
