The head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi has said that the national football team, the Super Eagles which won the last African Cup of Nations is composed of players that can win the FIFA World Cup. Keshi stated this in Calabar at a press briefing before Saturday’s encounter between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Antelopes of Ethiopia.
Keshi has said that it is possible for Nigeria to win the world cup.He said the 2014 World Cup may likely come to Nigeria, adding that” in football everything is possible”.”My players are in good shape to win the game on Saturday. we will try to play the players in their actual positions but we may give them specific responsibilities.”We have work to do because the Ethiopians are good.
They have been playing together for past five years so we have to be very cautious” Keshi also said, “There are no automatic shirts for any player in the team. If it comes that we can find one or two outstanding players we might take them to the world cup. All the players both professional and home based have to fight everyday to be included”
The Super eagles head coach also admitted that Ikechuckwu Uche is the most intelligent striker in the team but will not be included in the team for now.He also attributed the successes recorded so far by the team to the collective efforts put together by the team’s management and players.
“The secret behind my success is the coaches, players, and the backroom. It is a collective effort and not mine alone, the players are the main factors in the game and I must also say that I have a great team”. He said.
