Insiders are saying that telecommunications giant, Etisalat paid the R&B singer half a million dollars for her performance at the Sisters with soul concert.
The cheapest fee for entrance to the show was N15, 000 and the crowd moderation intended by the organisers was achieved. Although the popular Expo Center, Eko Hotel and Suites still appeared empty, this was due to the oversize hall for the elitist show, featuring American Queen of ‘Hip-hop soul’; Mary J. Blige who stormed Lagos last Friday for the Etisalat’s sponsored ‘Sisters with Soul’ concert.
The show, which enjoyed the partnership of Kilimanjaro Entertainment, also paraded some of Nigeria’s top female artistes including Seyi Shay, Eva Alordiah, Niyola, Emma Nyra and Ms. Jaie, all performing their hit tracks to the excitement of the audience.
After her two-hour performance, Mary J. Blige went on twitter, thanking her fans: “Good morning Lagos. Thank U so much 4 the warm welcome, love & support. I had a great time with U! Sorry I had to leave so quickly. Love. MJB”.
shebi etisalat no get home artiste to lavish money on? instead of empowering youths through scholarships and small scale business, or providing sustainable development as well as improve on their broadband services, they feel investing the kobo(s) they've gathered through their poor service provision should be wasted on foreign artiste. naija i d hail o.....make una keep d make us to d suffer for people land....instead of encouraging and patronising ours!
