Terrible: ‘Doctor’ dies after beer drinking contest in Ondo
A man said to be an auxiliary doctor has lost his life in Ondo after engaging in a beer drinking contest.
The 35-year-old, who was identified simply as “Carbon” gave up the ghost after drinking several cans of an unnamed alcoholic drink.
The incident is said to have occurred at a popular drinking spot after the deceased took up the challenge to drink a certain amount of the drink.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP, a witness said the deceased had gone to work and at the close of work, decided to relax at the drinking spot close to his clinic in in the company of one of his friends said to be a police officer, before the incident.
The witness said while the deceased was engaged in discussion with his friend, an argument was said to have ensued about whether or not it is possible for a person to drink five cans of the liquid at one sitting and the late Carbon was said to have boasted of his ability to perform the feat, leading his friend to place a bet of N10,000 and challenged him to do it.
The deceased was said to have gulped down five of the 35cl cans of the alcoholic beverage within a few minutes after which he collected the money.
Events were however said to have taken a dramatic turn as few minutes later, the late Carbon became unconscious after complaining of severe abdominal pain and requested for assistance from people drinking in the joint.
He was said to have been taken to a nearby hospital but gave up the ghost before medical assistance could be given to him.
