HEART OF GOLD: GOVERNOR SHETTIMA OF BORNO STATE DONATES BLOOD TO AN UNKNOWN PREGNANT WOMAN
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, on Sunday, donated blood to a pregnant woman who was in need of transfusion during an unscheduled visit to Gen. Muhammadu Shuwa Memorial Hospital in Maiduguri.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Salma Kolo, told journalists that the governor made the donation because he was moved by the circumstances he met the woman in at the hospital.
“The governor was disturbed by the condition of the woman and wanted to help,” he said. “He later discovered through the medical attendants that his blood group matched that of the woman, so he decided to help out. This is what is expected of a leader.”
