We brought you news last month of a 26 year old NYSC member, Folakemi Akinbode, who was attacked by unknown assailants wielding machetes and guns on her way to the Corper's Lodge near the Niger Delta Teaching Hospital, Okolobori, in bayelsa State.Word has it that she's set to be flown to Monza in Italy, to receive medical treatment at a specialist hospital.
 Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government (SSG), Edmund Allison- Oguru, during a visit, said the arrangement for foreign medical treatment had been concluded and fixed for next week.

LATEST FIFA RANKINGS

The latest FIFA rankings was just released  and our beloved Super Eagles despite defeating Malawi 2-0 to qualify for the final round of qualification for Brazil 2014 and also beating Burkina Faso 4-1 in Kaduna three days later dropped one place to number 36.
    Cote d’Ivoire are still the top ranked African country in 19th position, while Ghana occupies the 24th spot. Algeria (28th) and Mali (38th) complete the top five from the continent. Spain, Argentina, Germany, Italy and Colombia remained the top five countries in the world. see full list below and tell me your opinions....

Warri again? Yes, it's happening in Warri again. The fanfare that heralds the triumph of hustlers will be felt as they go back to base ganging up with their colleagues in the music and movie industry, who like I said by association will cause a standstill come 1st of October 2013 in the oil rich Niger Delta City. It'll suffice to say it's a 'go back to the root' event. One of the biggest events of the year!

2013 NIGERIA ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS WINNERS

The show opened with a performance by Mish and then the host and the man in charge of the day, Basketmouth took to the stage to officially open the show and kept the audience spell bound laughing all through the show with his jokes. Other artists who took to the stage spawning great performances were Iyanya, Emma Nyra, EME’s Niyiola, Ajebutter 22, Dammy Krane, and Sean Tizzle.

The award show came to a close with Phyno performing his hit song (ghost mode) with the rave of the moment Olamide, and the ‘first of all’ crooner in turn shutting it down and getting the entire audience on their feet by performing hit songs from his album.

NEA 2013 NOMINEE LIST IS OUT

The President of the NEA, Tope Esan announced the nominees from all thirty-four categories and some of the nominees this year include Iyanya’s Kukere and K9’s Kokoma for Hottest Single of the Year, Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji and Uche Jombo for Best Lead Actress, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince and Vector for Best Rap Act and for Best Comedian BasketMouth, Bovi and Senator were also nominated. The nominee announcement event is an opportunity for all nominees to be celebrated in Nigeria surrounded by their fellow industry peers, and supporters before the official award ceremony in New York. 

Voting begins online on June 28th. Fans are encouraged to support their favorite artists, actors and actresses, comedians and entertainers by voting and encouraging others to vote as well. The 2013 NEA Awards is scheduled to take place on Sept. 1 in New York City.

Breaking news: PDP suspends Gov. Amaechi

The crisis between the leadership of the People’s  Democratic Party and the Governor of Rivers State, Mr.Rotimi Amaechi assumed a new dimension on Monday when the governor was suspended from the party.

A statement issued by the National Publicity Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh in Abuja, said the action was taken after an emergency meeting by members of the National Working Committee of the party.

The meeting, he said, was held on Monday.

He said the NWC at the meeting, considered petition written by the Rivers State chapter of the party against the governor for violating some sections of the party’s constitution.

Metuh said the  governor was suspended “for violating Articles 58 1 (b), (c ), (h) and (m) of the PDP Constitution following his refusal to obey the lawful directive of the Rivers State Executive Committee to rescind his decision dissolving the elected Executive Council of Obiokpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.”

Metuh aid his case was being referred to a disciplinary committee of the party.

Our correspondent reports that the NWC is searching for members of the Disciplinary Committee that will hear the case against him.

The committee may be inaugurated later today.
