Robbers Tie Up Policemen, Attack Trailer Park In Ogun State

No fewer than 20 robbers attacked Ascon Trailer Park, Asese, Ogun State end of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, inflicting injuries on employees on duty.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the robbers also tied up the policemen attached to the park during an operation that lasted for about three hours last Friday.
An employee said the robbers attempted to steal some heavy duty equipment, but their attempt was not successful and they became infuriated. He said,

Nigerian Woman Excretes Hard Drugs Inside Aircraft

Chizoba Anya, a Nigerian lady, has excreted wraps of substance that tested positive for methamphetamine on-board a Qatar Airline Flight from Malaysia to Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said on Monday.

NDLEA said the 32-year old suspect was said to have excited suspicion following her frequent visits to the toilet.

Spider Bite Leaves Man in Coma for a Month With Liver and Kidney Failure

A Tesco worker was left in a coma from a suspected spider bite after handling goods from abroad.
Dad Alan Harbidge, 57, spent a month unconscious with his family at his bedside as doctors battled to save his life.
The supermarket warehouse worker had liver and kidney failure – and his fingers swelled up “like sausages” from the mystery infection.
Alan finally came around and is expected to recover – although he cannot speak for long because he had to have a tracheotomy .
Alan worked at a giant Tesco distribution centre at Magor, near Newport, South Wales, where an investigation has been launched into his sudden illness.

‘I pray for armed robbers and dupe them too’ – Pastor arrested for robbery confesses

A 35-year-old man, Ikenna Agubosim, who claimed to be a pastor and the spiritualist of some criminals in Imo State, has been arrested by the state’s police command.
The suspect was paraded before newsmen, alongside a suspected armed robber, Uchechukwu Benjamin.
Speaking on the case, the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Katsina, said the Agubosim, the acclaimed man of God, was arrested as an accomplice in connection with a robbery crime.

Nigeria music legend, Innocent Idibia also know as 2Face Idibia, was at the main bowl of the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar to perform.

2baba as he is called by friends was not only the Nigerian musician at the ongoing festival, artist like Iyanya, Davido, Naeto C, Sound Sultan, among others, joined him at the event tagged ‘Calabar Rocks’.
The 16,000 capacity U.J. Esuene witnessed spectators surpassing the previous day’s carnival bands’ parades all packaged by the Calabar Carnival Commission.
Nigeria’s rap sensation, Nato C dished out some of his rap tunes much to the excitement of the music throngs who wound and wriggled while Nato C did his thing.
A moment the spectators would sure live to remember saw the “Skelewu “ and “Omo Baba Lowo” crooner, Davido when he mounted the stage and got the crowd yelling along to the songs.
It then became the turn of the Iyanya the Kukere master from Cross River State, he was given the home welcome with his “Kukere” and “Your Waist”, he wowed the crowd into a wild moment.
The crowd which was hardly held back joined him in singing and dancing to his native “Etighi” dance steps.

Moyes sets 20-goal target for Welbeck

David Moyes has asked striker Danny Welbeck, to “step up” and score 20 goals this season.
The Manchester United forward scored only twice last season, but has found the back of the net seven times in all competitions in 2013.
Welbeck came off the bench to bag the winner against Norwich City on Saturday and Moyes expressed his delight, but urged the England international to do more in 2014.

“We have said to him we are trying to keep his finishing up,” the Scot told reporters. “I think he can keep his efforts up, his levels up, even better.
“He got one [league] goal last year and now he is on seven for this season. It could be better but you have got to say it is going in the right direction.
“With the second half of the season to go, he should be certainly looking to score 20 goals.
“We need him to do that because, when you don’t have Wayne and you don’t have Robin, then you need people to step up to the mark.
“In quite a few of the games recently he has done that for us.”

Wole Soyinka’s daughter, Iyetade is dead

Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has lost his daughter, Iyetade.

Iyetade passed away on Sunday at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Oyo State.
A statement issued by an aide to the 1986 Nobel laureates winner, Jahman Anikulapo, revealed that the 48-year-old Iyetade died after a brief illness.

According to the statement, the late Iyetade was an “affable, intelligent and sometimes capricious” woman who “struggled with her health in recent years,” Anikulapo said in the statement.
Until her demise, she was a student at the Staff School and Queens School, Ibadan before studying Medicine at the University of Ibadan.
She is survived by two children, her parents, numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.

Pastor Tunde Bakare rejects Christmas cow from President Jonathan

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, has revealed that Pastor Tunde Bakare, the General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, turned down a cow, which was reportely sent to him for Christmas by President Jonathan.
In a tweet posted on Sunday, El Rufai wrote: “Just learnt that GEJ sent a Christmas cow to Pastor Bakare, but Pastor asked – is it cow we need in Nigeria? Nigerians want good governance!”

It is believed that Pastor Bakare made this known to his congregation, as moments before then, El Rufai tweeted: “On my way Latter Rain Assembly to see my egbon, Pastor Tunde Bakare, by God’s Grace….” and later told his followers that, “Inside Latter Rain, Pastor Tunde Bakare praying for peace, stability and unity of Nigeria in 2014….that our nation gets capable leaders…”

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mallam Nasir Elrufai, Sunday morning cheated death as he and other passengers on board an Aero Contractor plane, survived a crash landing in Lagos.

El-lrufai, who was on his way to attend Last Sunday of the year Church service at Pastor Tunde Bakare’s Latter Rain Assembly, broke the news via his Twitter handle. Nasir El-Rufai (@elrufai): “Upon landing in Lagos, our Aero aircraft lost a tyre. The pilot did a great job of breaking to a halt suitably. My phones flew under seats, he said”.

Wife Commits Suicide After Discovering Her Husband Had Child Outside Wedlock

A housewife has committed suicide in Ikorodu Area of Lagos State following her discovery that another woman put to bed for her husband in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The deceased, Mrs. Ibironke Sanni whose husband, Mr. Sanni Ajibola, is the Personal Assistant to a chieftain of All Progressives Congress was found dead on Monday in her apartment.
It was alleged by her husband and his family led by his father who is the Chairman of Neighbourhood Watch, Alh. M.K. Sanni that the mother-of-two took a drink of Sniper, a brand of insecticide.
However, the family of the deceased have objected to the suicide claim, saying Mrs. Ibironke Sanni, may have been strangled to death.
It was said that the deceased’s family were of the opinion that there was more to Ibironke’s death than they were told by their in-laws, and have reported the matter to Policemen at Igbogbo division in Ikorodu, who as at yesterday, were yet to ascertain the exact cause of the death of the 31-year-old woman.

A mysterious spacecraft, which residents of Awotan in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State called a “drone”, was reported to have crashed into a building at Omiremi Quarters in the community, leaving a crater on the roof of the building, just as aviation sources confirmed the object as a United States’ drone on an espionage mission in Nigeria.
Considering the registration number, TX 5803, inscribed on a black battery under the craft, a source said the space craft must have taken off from  NASA base in Texas in the US, stating that the battery attached to the spacecraft powered it and enabled it to move around so that it could do the bidding of those who sent it.
Though many aviation sources told Sunday Tribune that the object could be a device used in espionage, another source, however, believed that the craft was a “nondescript aviation device”.

If you found $300,000 (N50 million) in your backseat, would you return it?  One cabbie in Las Vegas says definitely.  He seems to have no regrets regarding his decision to return the $300,000 in cash he found in a brown paper bag in the back seat of his cab this week.
He went out of his way to make sure the money was returned to its rightful owner.  ”I don’t care from $10 to higher.  My dignity is not for sale, and that’s the way I am.  That’s the way our parents taught us when I was a kid,” said cabbie Gerardo Gamboa to CNN affiliate KVVU.  ”All I wanted to do was just call my dispatcher and return it, and this is the only chance I have to show cab drivers in Las Vegas are not bad people.”
The money actually belonged to a famous 28-year-old professional poker player, who was so distraught about the loss that “he wanted to shoot himself in the head,” according to a cab company official’s statement.
Yellow Checker Star field operations manager Joel Willden told KVVU, ”He was grateful.  He was very understanding; he wasn’t irritated.  To a point he was irritated, but he wasn’t mad or aggressive or anything.  Maybe a little more embarrassed than anything.  I mean, he left $300,000 in a cab, but he was an awesome guy.”

Man impregnates daughter three times, says he did not know it is an abomination

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, one Augustine Obodeke, for repeatedly sleeping with his 17-year-old daughter (Favour), impregnating her three times.
Sunday Sun reports that the bubble finally burst, when the daughter became pregnant the third time and was unwilling to go for abortion.
According to a police report, the girl had cried out to neighbours, who then presented the case to the Ugbowo Police Station in Benin City.
Acting on the recount, the police arrested Obodeke and has since detained him.
Narrating her ordeal, Favour said her father started having sexual intercourse with her after the death of her mother.

Biafra Plans To Declare Sovereignty By Jan. 1, 2014 [See Letter]

The indigenous people of Biafra, a group of Biafrans seeking the restoration of the Republic of Biafra has sent a strong worded letter to all the 10 governors of Biafra namely: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Rivers States and copied to all Members of Senate and Federal House of Representatives in Nigeria from Biafran states, as well as those from Igbanke in Edo State and Idoma land in Benue State, the Ohaneze Ndigbo.
A similar was also sent to all Unions and socio-political group in Biafraland and traditional rulers. The letter dated 19th December, 2013, is titled “Expiration of Nigeria’s Amalgamation Proclamation and Restoration of the Sovereign State of Biafra”, was signed by the Executive Council of Indigenous People of Biafra Principle, represented by the Director, Nnamdi Kanu.
The movement has continued to garner support among Biafrans round the globe who tune into the Radio Biafra broadcasting from London at 7pm (Nigerian time) daily to get updates on the progress of restoration of Biafran project.
